Growth Platform Transformation
Case Study – Transforming an Enterprise Website into a Scalable Discovery, Acquisition, and Conversion Platform
Overview
Amplify.com supported a growing portfolio of K–12 curriculum products, but its digital acquisition model relied heavily on campaigns and traditional marketing channels rather than an always-on organic growth engine.
I led a multi-year transformation to reposition the website as a scalable discovery, acquisition, and conversion platform—connecting content strategy, SEO, customer journeys, experimentation, analytics, and platform operations into an integrated growth system.
The strategy shifted organic discovery from a supporting channel into a primary source of customer acquisition while establishing the infrastructure and operating practices needed to sustain growth over multiple years.
Within the first year, organic search became the #1 acquisition channel, increasing 99% YoY, followed by sustained 27%+ annual growth over the next three years.
The Opportunity
Amplify.com served educators evaluating a complex portfolio of literacy, math, and science curriculum products across different needs, grade levels, and stages of the decision journey. Strong product content existed, but the digital ecosystem had not yet been structured as a coordinated growth platform connecting discovery, evaluation, engagement, and conversion.
The opportunity was to build a more scalable acquisition model across:
- Organic discovery and content publishing
- Topic and curriculum information architecture
- Technical SEO and platform health
- Internal linking and customer pathways
- Product evaluation and conversion journeys
- Webinar, resource, and thought-leadership discovery
- Cross-channel discovery, including YouTube
- Behavioral targeting and conversion optimization
- Measurement and continuous optimization
Strategy
I structured the growth transformation around four interconnected dimensions designed to improve acquisition while building the systems required for sustained optimization:
- Content & Organic Acquisition
- Technical & Platform Optimization
- Customer Journey & Conversion Architecture
- Cross-Channel Discovery & Lifecycle Growth
Together, these dimensions connected content, technology, experience, and measurement into an operating model designed to compound growth rather than rely on isolated campaigns.
Transformation Timeline
Phase 1 —
Build the Organic Growth Engine
Established the publishing and content infrastructure needed to create an always-on organic acquisition engine.
This included:
- Launching an SEO-driven blog as a strategic discovery surface
- Establishing editorial cadence, intake, and publishing workflows
- Developing topic clusters and pillar-content relationships
- Connecting thought leadership with high-value curriculum pathways
- Establishing lifecycle refresh and optimization practices
- Building structured internal linking between educational content and product experiences
- Introducing tools and workflows enabling teams to apply SEO standards consistently
Impact: Shifted organic discovery from a supporting marketing activity into a repeatable growth system, contributing to 99% YoY organic traffic growth in the first year.
Phase 2 —
Strengthen Technical Performance & Search Governance
Established technical SEO and platform-health practices designed to protect and compound organic growth as the ecosystem scaled.
This included:
- Resolving redirect chains, broken links, and metadata gaps
- Improving crawlability, HTTPS consistency, and structural markup
- Reducing unnecessary scripts and technical performance debt
- Improving Core Web Vitals and page-load performance
- Integrating accessibility considerations into templates and publishing standards
- Establishing image performance and metadata governance
- Creating recurring technical monitoring and optimization practices
Impact: Created a healthier technical foundation supporting sustained search performance, stronger user experiences, and long-term growth durability.
Phase 3 —
Connect Discovery to Evaluation & Conversion
Evolved the experience beyond traffic acquisition by connecting organic discovery with clearer curriculum evaluation and conversion pathways.
This included:
- Developing pillar experiences around high-value topics such as Science of Reading
- Expanding discovery pathways across literacy, math, science, and Spanish-language curriculum experiences
- Migrating legacy content into more structured discovery architecture
- Developing supporting content around high-intent educator needs
- Strengthening internal pathways between educational content and program experiences
- Establishing bottom-of-funnel optimization frameworks for priority product pages
- Applying behavioral targeting and experimentation to priority customer journeys
Phase 4 —
Expand the Growth Ecosystem
Extended the growth strategy beyond individual website surfaces by connecting discovery across content formats, channels, and lifecycle touchpoints.
This included:
- Establishing YouTube SEO and metadata standards
- Improving webinar and resource-library discoverability
- Expanding structured video optimization
- Connecting external discovery channels with website journeys
- Applying behavioral targeting across priority experiences
- Establishing measurement across acquisition and engagement surfaces
- Beginning the evolution from traditional SEO toward emerging AEO and AI-discovery practices
Impact: Expanded entry points into the digital ecosystem while increasing YouTube referral traffic 50% and creating the foundation for the organization’s subsequent AI-discovery strategy.
Growth Capabilities Established
The transformation established repeatable capabilities that allowed growth optimization to scale beyond individual campaigns and initiatives:
Organic Acquisition Engine – Structured publishing, topic architecture, and lifecycle optimization supporting continuous organic discovery.
Discovery-to-Conversion Journeys – Connected pathways moving users from educational discovery through curriculum evaluation and conversion.
Experimentation & CRO – Behavioral targeting and testing practices enabling continuous optimization across priority journeys.
Content Lifecycle Management – Performance-driven refresh and optimization practices extending the value of existing content.
Cross-Channel Discovery – Coordinated website, video, webinar, and resource optimization expanding entry points into the digital ecosystem.
Growth Measurement – Analytics and reporting connecting acquisition, engagement, and conversion signals to ongoing prioritization.
Impact: Shifted digital growth from individual SEO and campaign activities toward a scalable operating model connecting content, experience, technology, and measurement.
Outcomes
The transformation changed both how customers discovered Amplify and how the organization approached digital growth—creating an acquisition
engine that continued producing measurable results beyond the initial transformation.
Key Outcomes:
- +99% Organic traffic growth YoY in the first year
- 27%+ Sustained annual organic growth over the following three years
- +34% Marketing-qualified leads through experience and conversion optimization

- +50% YouTube referral traffic
- Established organic search as the #1 acquisition channel
- Expanded visibility across priority curriculum and thought-leadership topics
- Connected organic acquisition with product evaluation and conversion pathways
- Established scalable publishing, optimization, and measurement practices
- Created the growth foundation later extended into AEO and AI-mediated discovery
The result was a shift from campaign-dependent website marketing toward an always-on digital growth platform designed to continuously attract, engage, and convert audiences across the customer journey.
